I was gooping up my coffee at a local coffee shop the other day and while I was mindlessly stirring, I found myself reading the bulletin board where local businesses and part-timers post their materials.
The K-9 Doggie Day Care had a great looking pink postcard that really stood out, a local artist had a clip which held about 5 "take one" postcards which was a nice idea. It made me think to hire an intern to put our postcards in every coffee shop that had a bulletin board in the city! (OK, not every single one, with the amount of coffee shops here in San Francisco that's a full time job!)
If you do business at the very local level, why not use this free form of advertising to get the word out. There's a ton of traffic mindlessly gooping up their coffee every day. Take advantage of it!

I agree. There are some forms of this in other places as well. Pays to have your form of advertising with you at all times should you run across these little bulletin boards. There's a irony popping up now days in that one can use these physical bulletin boards to promote their virtual bulletin boards (i.e. websites). Go figure.
